Jérémie Sanchez

Dr. Jérémie Sanchez is Lecturer in Human Geography and Development Studies at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability, University of Lausanne. His background is in Urban Planning (BSc, 2012), Development Studies (MSc, 2014) and Human Geography (PhD, 2019).

Jérémie's research primarily explores urbanization and urban environmental governance in 'the global South'. His approach is interdisciplinary and stands at the crossroads of Human Geography, Urban Studies, and Development Studies.

His current focus is on:

- the modes, rationalities and techniques of government (in a Foucaldian sense) of urban environments in Myanmar/Burma.

- how these governmental rationalities and techniques can inform the Southern urban critique and Urban Political Ecology.

Parallel to his research, Jérémie teaches Human Geography and Development Studies at the Bachelor and Master level at the University of Lausanne. He regularly collaborates with academic partners, public institutions, and civil society.
