Lucas Haldimann graduated from the University of Geneva with a bachelor's and a master's degree in Socioeconomics, combined with an orientation in quantitative and qualitative methods.

He is currently finishing his PhD at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability of the University of Lausanne under the supervision of prof. Patrick Rérat. His thesis is part of the SNSF project 'Mobile and non-mobile young Swiss adults: prevalence, motivations, and barriers of temporary mobilities' and focuses on young adults' temporary mobility in Switzerland. It measures the prevalence of past experiences as well as projects across this population, the selectiveness of the phenomenon, the motivations of mobile young people, the barriers of non-mobility as well as the aspirations to non-mobility. A book has been published with the key results and is available on the 'ch-x' survey website.

In addition, he is a research fellow and participates in the 'Velotactics' study, which aims to collect data on the implementation and reception of tactical cycling urbanism in the context of the health crisis.
