My dissertation project lies at the intersection of geography and contemporary art, and is a continuation of the research I undertook during my Masters in museology and my professional experience in the cultural field, focusing on the function of art outside the museum. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, this research aims to analyse the role of art in public spaces. More specifically, it explores the impact of site-specific artworks in peripheral towns in Switzerland and Italy, examining territorialisation through the study of how these installations are received by the public, using participatory methods.

In line with theories relating to territorial brandig, the aim of this project is to understand the interrelationships between works of art, the territory and its inhabitants, which can initiate a process of appropriation that helps to forge a territorial identity.
