The Canton of Fribourg asked for a qualitative and quantitative study giving a vision as accurate as possible of the situation of people addicted to alcohol and illegal drugs, in order to be able to best meet the objectives that have been assigned by law. This mandate given to the Institute of geography had two main objectives: - Analysis of the needs of the population dependent on illicit drugs and alcohol in the canton of Fribourg; - Analysis of the social benefits for these persons in the canton of Fribourg. ? To address this exploratory research, researchers have used three complementary methods: - A literature review; - A qualitative approach, based on extensive interviews; - A quantitative approach, intended to account for demographic characteristics, health, social, economic situations of the recipients as well as the specifics of their legal status, their non-prescribed drug use and the scope of their management.
