Sven Daniel Wolfe

Sven Daniel Wolfe is an urban/political geographer and postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Geography and Sustainability at the University of Lausanne. He is part of Prof. Dr. Martin Müller's research team M3 (Materialities | Multiplicities | Metropolis).

His doctoral thesis investigated diverse expressions of neoliberalization and domestically-targeted soft power in the articulation of the 2018 Men's Football World Cup in two peripheral cities in Russia. It is available online open-access here. He is currently occupied by three avenues: investigating micro-geographies of protest and resistance in the runup to the 2024 and 2028 Olympics in Paris and Los Angeles; exploring the urban geopolitics of eastern Ukraine, specifically in reference to the ongoing conflict with Russia; and managing a database of mega-event impacts for every Olympics, World Cup, and Expo from 1960-2018.
