Géraldine Overney is a PhD student and assistant at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability at the University of Lausanne, under the supervision of Professor Christophe Clivaz. She holds a Master's degree in Journalism and Communication, with a specialization in Media and Digital Communication, from the University of Geneva. Her Master's thesis, defended in 2021, examined the use of user-generated content on Instagram in the promotion of tourism in Switzerland, focusing on users' perceptions and motivations.
She is currently conducting a PhD thesis on the role of second-home owners in the governance of mountain resorts. Her research is structured around the following question: To what extent and in what ways do second-home owners participate in the governance of mountain resorts, and what factors influence this involvement? Her fieldwork is conducted in the Valais and Vaud Alps.
