Dr. Jonathan Bussard is a senior SNF researcher at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability since August 2025, a member of the research group "Margins, Environment, Landscapes" and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mountain Research (CIRM). Mr. Bussard is involved in the project QUALISCAPES – Assessing tipping points in Baukultur qualities, which aims to identify the characteristics of the landscape and built culture that promote a sense of place. At the same time, he is a lecturer at the University of Teacher Education in the canton of Vaud.
Jonathan Bussard's doctoral thesis, completed in November 2024 at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability at UNIL, focuses on the tourism development of geomorphological heritage in various contexts (Iceland, Swiss Alps, Atlas mountains). He also participated, as a research fellow, in the project FluidGov - Towards a fluid governance: hydrosocial analysis of the paradigms and practices of flood management of the Rhone and the Ganges (India, France, Switzerland), in the creation of the inventory of geotopes in the canton of Vaud, and in the initial phase of the project Livemount - Living in the mountains today and in 2050. He previously worked for the Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut Regional Nature Park and for the Office for land planning of the Canton of Vaud.
