My research focuses on the transformations of mountain territories through an approach grounded in the political geography of tourism.
My main research areas are:
A transdisciplinary approach to less-developed mountain areas: I study tourism transitions and the impacts of and adaptations to climate change in less-developed mountain areas, focusing on both practices and infrastructure (trails, huts, etc.). I work with local stakeholders to co-construct the research, its findings and possible solutions. Access to nature and sport practices: I am interested in the legal and political conditions governing access to natural areas. Through a geo-legal approach, I seek to understand how access to mountain areas is regulated and, in the longer term, to explore the relevance of considering a right of access to nature. Tourism governance in less-developed Alpine mountain areas: I analyse how tourism policies are implemented across territories through a multi-level, comparative and geo-legal approach. Linking the two other strands of my research, governance helps me understand the political processes at work in mountain territories. My main study areas are the Alps, Scandinavia and the Middle East.
