About me

Jill is a graduate teaching assistant and PhD candidate in Geography, supervised by Prof. Dr. Martin Müller. She works within the Urban Studies research group as part of the M3 team at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability. She graduated with a Master 2 in Ethnology and Social Anthropology from EHESS Paris in 2016. She has also received qualifications from University of Melbourne, Queensland University of Technology and in 2012 she completed a semester exchange at Sciences Po Paris. Her doctoral research project focuses on urban politics in Belgrade and Belfast – using queer, feminist methods to understand the inter-relationships between infraviolence, infrapolitics and infrastructures of social reproduction in these two 'transitional' cities, from a political and economic perspective.

In this project Jill seeks to put her background in anthropology and a queer-feminist epistemological approach into productive conversation with urban theory, broadening understandings of the complex dynamics of violence and political resistance. Her other research interests include anthropology of food and drinks; South-Eastern Europe (particularly Serbia); decolonial theory; urban resistance movements.
