Lilian Brice MANGAMA KOUMBA

Lilian Brice Mangama Koumba is a biologist and ecologist specialist in wildlife and primatology, with experience in applied research, biodiversity conservation, and community-based natural resource management in Gabon, Central Africa. Of Gabonese nationality, he holds a PhD in animal ecology and primatology from the Doctoral School of Fundamental and Applied Sciences (EDSFA) at the University of Science and Technology of Masuku (USTM). Lilian is currently a researcher at the Research Institute of Tropical Ecology (IRET-CENAREST) in Gabon.

For over ten years, Lilian has collaborated with numerous national and international institutions, including research institutes in Gabon, international research institutes and centers, as well as several European and Japanese universities. Since 2024, he has collaborated on the community governance and management of hunting with Graden Z.L. Froese, a Canadian research associate at IRET-CENAREST, and Professor Gretchen Walters at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), where he became an external scientific collaborator in 2025.

Currently, he holds the positions of mission leader, wildlife expert, and project manager, with responsibilities encompassing the coordination of field teams, the planning and monitoring of scientific activities, financial management, and the drafting of technical and financial reports. His commitment to mentoring young Gabonese students, training paraecologists, and supporting local communities demonstrates his dedication to promoting participatory conservation.
