Laura Pierini is a doctoral assistant at the IGD, under the supervision of Christophe Mager.
Her research lies between cultural geography and contemporary art, focusing on a geography "of" or "about" art, examining the relationships between territorialization and contemporary artistic creation. Her doctoral research project aims to understand the impact of site-specific art in peripheral spaces in Switzerland and Italy, using methodological procedures specific to the geography of emotions. The aim is to understand the territorializing power of site-specific artworks installed in so-called marginal cities, by analyzing the reception process put in place by residents and visitors.
Previously, she worked on urban regeneration through art in public spaces, analyzing the case of the Sainte Anne Prison in Avignon.
She has worked in a number of museums and cultural institutions in Switzerland and Australia as a scientific collaborator and exhibition manager.
