Mialy is a PhD candidate and graduate assistant at the Institute of Geography and Sustainability. Her research interests focus on the political ecology of tuna fisheries in the Indian Ocean exploring questions of access, materiality and identity.

Mialy is from Madagascar, where she has worked on marine conservation for a number of years with the NGO Blue Ventures. She advised on marine policy and marine protected areas in the country and developed different fisheries policy documents in collaboration with the Ministry of fisheries.

Mialy holds a Bachelor of Public Law and Political Sciences from the University of Antananarivo and an MPhil in Conservation Leadership from the University of Cambridge. 

She is also involved on an advisory capacity with the International Pole and Line Foundation (IPNLF) and as an expert representing Madagascar within the The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
