The objective of the COMETE project (Les COMmuns à l'aune des Enjeux TErritoriaux actuels et futurs) is to bring together commons scholars and commoners in order to study how their resilience can help to solve current and future territorial issues and to use this platform as a springboard for research. In recent years, research on the commons has multiplied. It has allowed the development of concepts and theories concerning the management of commons and has highlighted the robustness of community institutions for resource management.

The COMETE project is structured in three levels:

Networking component (creation of a federated research team at the Alpine arc level and by extension at the European level) via a research seminar and a study day;

Training component (involving students in Switzerland and in France) aiming at training students in the field and in the commons;

Action-Research component encouraging inter- and transdisciplinary research via the organisation of three transdisciplinary research workshops and a study day.
