Within the framework of a convention with the Fondation pour la Maison des Alpes and the Commune of Evolène, the Institute of Geography has concentrated part of its research activities in the Hérens Valley. This project, carried out with Ecotec Environnement SA company in Sierre, is divided in three parts: (1) geomorphological mapping at the valley scale; (2) study of sediment transfers in four torrential catchments and instrumentation of two sites; (3) formation and teaching. At the end of the project a book on regional geomorphology will be published.
