Résumé: This paper is about the question of the urban household waste and their characteristics depending of where they are produced. Moreover, this master thesis intends to know if it is justifiable to conduct an awareness-raising campaign integrated into specific issues in various urban spaces. By bringing to light a quantitative and qualitative methodology, this report concerns the process of selection of two perimeters within the vaudoise capital: Lausanne. After that an historic, a geographic (geomorphologic, morphologic and demographic) and a garbologic analysis is brought off. The geographical analysis contains several sub-chapters analyzing on the one hand the territory (situation, land-use designation, actual land occupancy, waste diagnosis and internal urban dynamics), the mobility (accessibility, limits and caesuras, internal breaks, mobility flows) and on the other hand the atmosphere within the public spaces of the both sectors (La Borde and Florimont respectively). The garbologic part highlights the kind of waste discovered in both sectors in two different places after a manual sorting. An analysis of the results and a proposal of steps (for example: an integrated awareness-raising campaign) conclude this master thesis.
