There has been a strong growth in the sales of electrically-assisted bicycles (E-bikes), which many public authorities subsidize. More knowledge is needed on the profiles of the users of this new mode of transport, their uses and experiences.
This research was carried out in the urban setting of the city of Lausanne. It is based on a survey of the recipients of a subsidy for the purchase of an e-bike and a series of in-depth interviews. Its findings increase our understanding of e-bikes and their role in the ecosystem of urban mobility.
