The aim of this project is to create a unique space bringing together scientists and farmers from Switzerland and Morocco for one week in October 2024 in the Canton of Vaud to explore the obstacles and challenges of agroecology beyond the North/South divide. Through its approach, its conception and on-site scientific support and its interdisciplinary team, this project aims to inspire and consolidate peasant agroecology in these two territories, so that peasant agriculture stays or becomes ecologically viable and profitable for the people who practise it in the short, medium and long term. This week in Switzerland, made up of various farm visits, scientific workshops and public events, provides the conditions for farmers to exchange ideas, draw inspiration and adopt the tools, techniques and know-how that they find useful in their own contexts. In effect, this project seeks to bridge the gap between researchers and farmers by creating spaces conducive to dialogue and exchange. Although the project focuses primarily on the promotion of agro-ecological practices, and does not explicitly aim to deconstruct the conventional framework of 'North-South cooperation', it does serve to strengthen cooperation across different geographical contexts, while improving such collaborations through its scientific approach and support.
