Geography: Milieu, Space, Territory (Bachelor, première année)

Integrated course of introduction to Geography with other colleagues geographers on the main concepts in Geography (natural and human systems).

16 hours, Fall Semester.


Analyses in Physical Geography (Bachelor, première année)

Practical exercises in Physical Geography. Three types of data – climatic, hydrologic and topographic – are analyzed and several types of documents (maps, aerial photographies, statistical data) are studied.

2h / week, Spring Semester


Geomorphology (Bachelor, deuxième partie)

Introductory course of geomorphology, studying the main geomorphological processes active at the surface of the Earth and the associated landforms.

Mountain Geomorphology (Bachelor, deuxième partie)

Course with Christophe Lambiel. 5-day fieldtrip on the main geomorphological processes active in Switzerland (Jura, Molassic Basin, Alps).

Water management (Bachelor, deuxième partie)

Systemic analysis of water management in Switzerland and in the World, by the study of three subsystems (resources, uses, management).¨

Planning and protection of the Alps (Master)

Study of the main issues concerning the management, planning and protection of the Alps. Courses and field trip.

Course on the development, at the scale of territories, of various types of territorial resources (heritage, landscape, tourism). Course and seminar.

Integrated course (theoretical and practical) on the methods for evaluating, mapping and managing the geomorphological heritage.
